Dental Exams & Cleanings
Dental Cleanings & exams in hermitage, Tn
A cleaning is performed by a registered dental hygienist who uses special tools to clear away hardened plaque (tartar) and stains from the teeth. Exams are performed by our expert doctors who look for changes to your oral health and recommend a treatment plan accordingly. You should be coming into the office every six months for a checkup appointment. These appointments are critical to your future oral health and well-being.
Why would Dental Exams & Cleanings be necessary?
If you fail to come in regularly for cleanings and exams, you’ll notice that there is a buildup of tartar on your teeth. This buildup is nearly impossible to remove safely on your own without causing damage to your teeth. Other intraoral problems, like decay, can go unnoticed and get worse over time. The end result is the need for more invasive procedures and having a smile that you just don’t feel confident to show off.
Who is a candidate for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
It’s recommended that every member of your family come in for a regular exam and cleaning. This helps us to provide you with the care that you need and the treatments that are essential for keeping your smile healthy. It’s never too late to come in for a checkup appointment. Even if it’s been years since your last dental visit, Hermitage Dental Group is here to provide you with comprehensive dental care in a nonjudgmental manner.
What happens during the process of Dental Exams & Cleanings?
The appointment will often begin with a thorough professional cleaning. The cleaning is done by our registered hygienist who will work to clear away any stains and tartar from the teeth. This is done by using dental instruments known as scalers. For heavy buildup, an ultrasonic scaler may be used. The teeth are polished and flossed, and the gums are checked for signs of gingivitis and gum disease. Our doctor then comes into the office to perform the exam. We’re checking for intraoral problems like decay, loose restorations and even oral cancer. The whole appointment takes about an hour in the office and leaves you with a beautifully clean and shiny smile.
